The Accord Sport sure is pretty. That CVT, though. :/

Tell me what you sometimes wish you would’ve bought.

And no, my 6 isn’t going anywhere.

I kinda wish I had more seriously considered an Accord Sport. With the manual not the CVT. When I was shopping they were all black or gray. Now they have red and white which would make it more tempting.

There was one on the lot, in Guard, fully loaded, manual. I brushed it off because it wasn’t a Performance Pack car. I regret that.

something that didn’t have a transverse V6. Either a 4-cylinder car for better gas mileage, or possibly a first-gen TL (longitudinal V6 or I5). I almost bought a Volvo V40, but it was a POS with transmission issues and a CEL.

Some times I wish I had gotten a 1M instead, both the 1M and the E90 were going for about the same price.

Wish I’d known to hold out for a facelifted 3. No rust issues, an actual aux jack, more attractive front end.

This 328 GTS, about 2 years before prices doubled/tripled. But, I love my 348 way more and the timing wasn’t right. Tis life ¯\_()_/¯

I was writing a post that involved this car but forgot to save my changes so that has been delayed.

Accord Sport looks great, but seriously V6 or bust on them.

I’ve got a 2013 Accord V6 Coupe

Really wish I went Swedish.

Something with power windows, locks, and seats.

And more than two usable seats and a center armrest.

Annnnd heated seats, sunroof, and other toys my M3 had.

Basically something from BMW, Acura, Infiniti, Cadillac, etc...

My second car was a 1995 (surprise surprise) Prelude Si with an H22 swap. I got it after a deal to buy an RSX Type S fell through. I wonder what would have happened if i’d gotten that RSX. I lost the Si in an accident.

I wish I would’ve done summer of 2015 “backwards”. I would sell the Miata for an older truck to have for utility purposes. I then would’ve either kept the FoST and played with it, or picked up (more likely option) a Sublime Green Challenger Scat Pack. When i sold the Miata, i was ready for something with a V8.

I am happy with my current Cougar/Taco setup, though. Regardless, I’ll always have a pickup and a car, one will be a project, one will be reliable.

I was strongly considering an Accord Sport when I ended up with my A4 Avant. Like 2x the sticker but I think I might’ve been about even on the finances by now (if the Accord had been completely perfect so far). Finding a manual one was impossible, though! Dealers wouldn’t even special order! Never regretted it at all tbh. Had a CVT one for an Uber the other day in SF and it was truly awful in the hills! Plus the pre-facelift interior seems awful now. Good call on the 6!

Sometimes wish I’d bought a used Trofeo for my second car, but I got a new Riviera instead. The engine on that car blew up at 86k miles. I liked the Olds better, but at the time, I was obsessed with buying new.

I’ve got an ‘09, same color, 2.3 MZR with the manual - the most enjoyable car I’ve ever owned. Not a great highway cruiser and mileage isn’t spectacular but throw it into a tight corner at 20 over the limit, hot shoe downshift and it whispers, “come on, lets go faster...”

I was really looking hard at getting an e30 M3 in the 2003-2005 timeframe, they were down around $10k for an OK one. Should’ve gone for it.

Honestly I have zero regrets about the three cars I have owned thus far.

My 1991 Mercury Tracer LTS (4-door Ford Escort GT with a Mercury badge basically) 5MT was a perfect first car. I learned how to drive stick, how to rev-match and how to heel-toe down shift in that. It had a Mazda engine and was super great on gas. Loved to rev and a 7k redline on your first car is doing alright. I could roll all four manual windows down while driving and I had a decent stereo thanks to my Dad buying me a head unit and some speakers that I installed myself. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss it a little, but Ohio is not kind to cars of that era and it isn’t very safe by modern standards.

Traded it in (for all of $375) on an 02 SVT Focus. That car I do miss. Wonderful machines. Lively chassis and a very eager engine. Such a superb drivers car. I don’t miss needing to constantly keep up with maintaining it however. As much as I tried mine was showing the hard life it had lead and nothing short of a complete restoration would have made it worthy of its potential again.

My GTI is fantastic and I have very few minor complaints. None of which cannot be easily remedied. Also plaid seats are awesome.

Agree wholeheartedly.

I realized a little while back that the performance (0-60, 1/4 mile, 70-0, skidpad) is actually on par with its hotted-up compact contemporaries like the SVT Focus, Sentra SE-R, and Matrix XRS, which I think goes to show why fuel economy is a little below average when compared to normal compacts.

My first car was an ‘89 Olds Toronado Trofeo. Cool car, with the most comfortable seats in the world, but gadamn was that an expensive car to keep on the road.

The car that haunts me. A 1987 Chrysler Conquest. It was red, it had all the 80s goodness, it had all the basic mods it needed. It was the best thing I’ve ever driven. But I didn’t buy it because I didn’t want to daily it in the winter, and my Wife said I could keep her old Cavalier as a winter beater, after we replaced it. I still wish I had just done it. That car was too awesome.

I wish I would’ve bought the burgundy version of the exact same truck that was right next to it on the lot, because after 11 years I am impossibly bored with silver.

I also wish I would’ve bought any number of midsize sedans instead of that POS ‘11 Malibu I pulled the trigger on.

Agree with you on the coolness and the seats. But my dad’s was no more expensive to maintain than the average olds. I’m sad and surprised you had so much trouble.

My dad purchased it new. When it was two years old, he rear ended somebody hard. Did $5k in damage in 1991 dollars. I bought it from him in ‘97, and over the next three years we dumped over five grand into that thing. I always suspected that accident was the cause of things failing that shouldn’t have. After I gave up, my dad decided to keep it and dumped a couple more grand over the next year or two into it. He finally gave up and junked it with just over 100k miles on the clock.

I sure wish I had kept those seats.

When I owned the car, I wrote a letter to Motor Trend asking if they had ever reviewed it, and if so, could I get a copy. They mailed me a xerox copy of their review. The opening line of the review described the target market for the car, and it was my dad to the letter. I’ll try and find it later, I think I still have it somewhere. What finally did the car in was an issue with the brakes that nobody could figure out or fix. It would be fine, fine, fine, then all of the sudden you’d have almost no brakes. Then fine again for a while. It was scary as hell.
